In today's credit tightening economy easy credit is tough to find. The days of getting a home loan with a small down payment, without income verification, and having some credit issues are long gone. It's more important than ever to maintain a good credit report score.

Having a good credit report score is the only way to have access to easy credit. With an excellent credit score you can still sign and drive if you have to buy a new car. Getting credit cards for emergency use is as easy as just filling out a simple form and getting instant approval.

Those that fall at the bottom of the credit score scale will have to get subprime high interest rate credit cards or put up a deposit to get a secured credit card. Many have to rely on super expensive payday loans when they run completely out of money. These loans are designed to separate you from your money with excessive interest and fees over a very short repayment term.

Homeowners and home buyers have to rely on owner financing, hard money loans, or lease options to even have a chance at owning a home with a less that average credit score. These methods of owning a home in most cases are also extremely expensive causing the borrower to spend in excess of 10% more than they would if they had an excellent credit score.

The good news is that it's never too late no matter how bad your credit is to start getting it fixed. To start make sure you pay all debts before their due dates and never more that 29 days past the due date. Don't carry balances on your credit cards. Do keep the oldest three four cards open with zero balances. If you have unpaid recent collections, take care of them. Do not payoff older collections without a deletion letter from the creditor.
